Becoming a Mecklenburg Extension Master Gardener
We’re excited to announce the application process to become an Extension Master Gardener in Mecklenburg County in 2024 has begun!
Five members of the Charlotte Garden Club are also members of the Class of 2023. They’ve finished the five months of study and are in the process of logging volunteer hours to become certified. This program is offered through our two land-grant universities, NC State and NC A&T University.
This is your chance to gain science-based, in-depth information on a wide variety of garden topics from soil to composting to Integrated Pest Management and so much more, and then share it with the public. Please view the attached flyer for more information. CLICK HERE TO VIEW FLYER
Have any questions? Don’t hesitate to reach out to two of the Class of 2024 and CGC members Elizabeth Barnes and Mary Staton. Here’s what they have to say:
“Not only am I a much more educated (and successful) gardener after completing the EMG course work, but I have made new friends and enjoyed new challenges through the class and the varied volunteer opportunities that are available to EMGs. For those who love gardening, this is an opportunity not to be missed!”
Elizabeth Barnes, 561.797.9790
“This program has changed the trajectory of my future. I love being immersed in all things gardening, appreciate the incredible training we received and continued education we’re provided, and the many occasions available throughout our county to help others with gardening questions, from misbehaving plants to wildlife!”
Mary Staton, 704.560.5957
We hope to see you at one of our Info Sessions this month!
