McGill Rose Garden Workday – Tuesday, December 5, 2023 – 10 am – 12 pm

Winter is finally here and with the wonderful rain last week, the McGill Rose Garden is calling! It’s time to tidy our perennial borders for the winter and plant a few annuals (pansies) also spring flowering bulbs. Please come join us next Tuesday, December 5, from 10 AM – 12 PM, weather permitting. Please bring a small shovel if available, and also dress accordingly as it’s probably going to be chilly in the morning hours. But remember, Rosies Coffee Shop will have plenty of hot coffee to warm you up!

Please note when visiting our perennial borders this time of year, we leave many seedheads and hollow stems for the insects to make a home or nest. Also, we “leave the leaves” so our beneficial insects have food and shelter in the winter. There are so many animals that live in leaves: spiders, snails, worms, beetles, millipedes, mites, and more—that support the chipmunks, turtles, birds, and amphibians that rely on these insects for food.
