Iris Society – September 2018 Meeting
September 29, 2018 @ 10:00 am - 12:00 pm
he Iris Society invites you to the Betty Little House of the Charlotte Council of Garden Clubs (CCGC) for our September meeting and a fall plant Exchange. It is at 10:00 AM, Saturday, September 29 at 1820 East Seventh Street. For overflow parking behind the house, you may use the parking area behind the Brixx Corporate Headquarters next door.
Following light refreshments and a brief business meeting, Ingrid Bray will present the program on “Gardens of Singapore“. Ingrid recently visited the area and was very impressed with the gardens so we have asked her to share some of the visual charm and beauty she experienced with CIS.
In addition, Iris Grieswell will conduct another popular CIS tradition – the Fall Plant Exchange. You may bring as many plants to share as you choose, but you will only receive 3 tickets, that is one ticket per plant up to 3. Due to the generosity of members bringing extra plants, everyone seems to go home with more than they brought to the meeting – even visitors can go home with “vegetation”. Irises are always welcome, but you are not limited to iris. Remember if you are sharing beardless irises they MUST be kept moist from the time the rhizomes are dug until they are replanted. Wrap in wet paper toweling and then wrap with plastic. Each plant should be labeled with a botanical and common name along with cultural requirements. You may be lucky enough to find that special plant that has been on your purchase list.
