The Charlotte Garden Club has a remarkable line up of landscape legends, horticultural heroes, and innovative florists to educate and entertain you this program year. They were secured last spring, before COVID-19.

Please know that we are still hosting these experts; however, they will be virtual presentations through Zoom for the remainder of 2020. 2021 formats are to be determined.

So stay engaged with us and mark your calendars for a fabulous, yet different-than-expected year!

Fall Day Trip to Penland School of Crafts

October 11, 2019

Must be a member of the Mint Museum

I’d like to introduce myself – Susan Kooiman, Corresponding Secretary for Delhom Service League. (That’s a fancy way of saying that I take care of the publicity and communications for DSL.) I want to extend a special invitation to the members of all the Mint affiliates.

We are hosting a fall day trip to Penland School of Crafts on October 11. All Mint members are invited and can bring a guest, too. In case you’re not familiar with Penland, it is a national center for craft education located in North Carolina’s beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains. Transportation will be by bus. We’ll have a private tour of the galleries and student workshops, and will visit resident artists’ studios. Lunch will be in the Penland dining hall. (I’ve eaten there and the food is delicious!) Also planned are a visit to The Barns on the school grounds and a visit with Cynthia and Edwina Bringle at their Penland campus gallery. Cynthia is a noted potter who has participated in our Potters Market at the Mint, and her sister Edwina is known for her wonderful handweaving. Both are represented in the Mint’s craft collection.

Please let your membership know about this great opportunity to make a colorful fall trip to the mountains, see artists at work in a powerful and creative environment for fine craft, and enjoy the camaraderie of fellow Mint members. We hope you’ll join us for some of our programs this year, too.

Thank you and best regards,
Susan /
