Charlotte Garden Club's "Art in the Garden" Tour Is Big Success

The Mint's 56th Annual Garden Tour fundraiser benefiting the Mint Museum of Art was a great success this year, bringing in over $9,000.00 from the two day Tour and party which was held the weekend of April 25 & 26.

Mint members and visitors enjoyed two days of touring five beautiful private Charlotte gardens and Wing Haven Gardens & Bird Sanctuary. Artists from the Charlotte Art League enlivened the experience by painting in the gardens "en plein air" during the Tour. The event concluded with a party at the Mint Museum of Art on Sunday afternoon with music, an auction of plein air paintings and other artwork and refreshments.

We would like to thank garden owners and Mint members Jeffrey Drum, Tom and deAnna McQuade and Jared and Paige Sweet for sharing their gardens for our Tour. Keith Lehr and Matthew and Annie Bogdovitz also had gardens on Tour, sponsored by Mint member Carole Joyner, of Joyner-Benfield Distinctive Land and Waterscape. Wing Haven was an artist favorite and hosted by Mint members Dia Steiger and Kay Paul.
